WE WERE ONLY MASSO

So me and my friend were talking about when we were in school. We started blabbering on about what we wore, and the way we had our make up etc. We were literally falling around laughing, so I thought I would share some of the embarrassing trends from back then.

I hope this gives some of you the laugh that it gave us.

We literally all thought we were only massive.

1. THE SIDE FRINGE

Now girls, I'm all for a side parting when it comes to doing my hair, but what the hell where we thinking. We literally used to pull half of our hair over to one side. Hair spray it into place and think we were massive. When we got a little bit older and started going to the hairdressers, the choppier it looked the better. All of those short layers (sometimes even spikes) - makes me laugh every time.

2. LIZZIE & MAX

The only 2 foundations that seemed to be floating around the school were Elizabeth Arden in the famous 'toasty beige' and max factor pan stick in number 13. We were literally contouring our upper lips with the stuff to give a more defined Ronny, which we all seemed to think was extremely cool. Not to mention that it was always about 32 shades darker than your actual skin - leaving you with a nice ring around your face. Foundation was not meant to be worn on the neck, or blended back then.

3. TAN EXPERTS

Yes, we did wear tan. No, we did not have anything to apply it with. So, yes, we did put it on with a sock! Which left our hands looking a gorgeous orange shade. You would think we would learn not to do it again, but I'm starting to think now 'was orange palms actually a fashion statement'??

4. THOSE SHOES THOUGH!!

My mam was only delighted when she found out that WALLABES shoes were in fashion. They were comfortable and durable, but they also looked like a pair of shoes that my granddad would have worn to an interview back in 1920. How these even made it into fashion at any stage is beyond me.

The old person shoes finally went out of fashion, and the new 'dainty' dolly shoe was in. Yes they looked a little bit girlier and less chunky, but when you live in Ireland and the majority of the time it rains, what is the point in wearing shoes, if your gonna wear these.

Before you even got to school our socks would be drenched up to your shins, and you would spend the day freezing cold, hoping that you would get a seat by the radiator so you could dry your socks off.

5. THE GREASY HAIRBAND

We had them in every colour! We had them in every thickness! Yes, it is the plastic hair bands that were always way to tight on your head. You would scrape your hair back tight enough to give yourself a temporary facelift. However, as the day went on, the hair band would loosen over and over again, so you would have to keep taking it off to fix it. Which left you looking like you havnt washed your hair in weeks by your last class. Girls, yas know what I'm talking about.
